Beijing Tatler
Edipresse / Asia

Designing the magazines for the English editions was an aesthetic challenge – but for us, the real learning curve was in deciding just how much we could “push” the Beijing and Shanghai Chinese versions. Because our goal was to make all of the magazines as uniform as possible, be they Chinese or English, we imposed our “western” design style. In the process, we had to learn where to “give in” on a format and respect the basic cultural differences between Western graphic perceptions and the Chinese reader’s. Designing Beijing and Shanghai Tatler in simplified Chinese has been one of our more favorite challenges to date.
